Sustainability Initiatives

At Mansfield University we are working to implement additional sustainable business practices. Following is an example of a few sustainable practices:

  • Offer Fair Trade Coffee at Jazzman's Café.
  • 100% Trayless in Manser Student Restaurant.
  • Active Member of the Sustainability Committee on campus.
  • Local Foods.
  • Napkin Dispensers to reduce waste while providing a recycled content napkin.
  • Reusable mugs and nalgene bottles can be refilled to reduce the waste of a cup, lid, and straw. Its cheaper to refill with your mug too.
  • Recycle - cardboard, aluminum cans, all soda and juice bottles, office paper, ink cartridges and used fryer oil.
  • ORGANIC - Offer organic and all natural products.
  • Seasonal Catering Guide featuring in season produce.
  • Provide just-in-time cooking to reduce food waste.
  • Eco-Friendly Cleaning Chemicals and Dishwashing Detergents designed to save water and energy.
  • Working to improve our composting program
  • Reduction of the number of food deliveries to campus. This reduces the carbon footprint.
  • Local Vendors for Dairy, Produce, and some bakery items.
  • Dime lights in seating area during off peak times.
  • Turn off unused kitchen equipment when not in use to reduce energy.
  • Dining Office Pledge - rechargable batteries, recycle cell phones and ink cartridges. Put computer to sleep when not in use. Recycle paper. Print on recycled content paper.
  • Eco-friendly packaging is available for catering take-out packages.
